Hyundai and Kia have a strange, symbiotic relationship. They share factories, parts as well as engineering knowhow and product testing duties. And yet they remain separate entities with their own marketing, distribution and styling departments.

Michael Sprague, Kia’s VP for marketing and communication describes their relationships to the New York Times likes this:

“Kia Motors America operates as a completely separate sales, marketing and distribution organization in the United States. [Hyundai and Kia share engineering efficiencies] similar in many ways to other global automakers.”

Toyota and Honda want to Win Back Sales Share from Hyundai Sonata with New Models

Not too long ago, if someone told you that a South Korean model would challenge America’s best selling sedan, the Toyota Camry, you would have probably laughed in his or her face.

Needless to say, a lot has changed over the past few years with Hyundai and in particular its latest Sonata sedan, not only challenging, but this past May even surpassing the Camry in U.S. sales for the first time in history.

Of course, the fact that Toyota’s production capabilities were seriously affected by the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan, played a significant role in Hyundai’s accomplishment.

If you are one of American Express’ very special customers, and have US$16.3 million in assets and an annual household income of around US$1.3 million, you may be granted the privilege of one of their black Centurion Cards.

Simon Cowell has one, as does Kanye West, Denzel Washington and Lindsay Lohan. Interestingly, and of more concern to readers of this blog, you might also be the proud owner of a Hyundai.

During the course of a presentation at the South Korean automaker’s Ann Arbor engineering and research centre, Hyundai’s U.S. Chief John Krafcik revealed that some 6% of “Black Card” holders own a Hyundai – a percentage shared with those who own Bentleys and Audis.

Argentina’s exports for imports saga continues, with South Korean carmaker Hyundai agreeing to export peanuts, wine, biodiesel and soy flour to offset the US$91 million (€64 million) it added to Argentina’s growing trade deficit in 2010. Hyundai Photos reviews

Hyundai is a group of companies founded by Chung Ju-yung in South Korea. The first Hyundai company was founded in 1947 as a construction company, and eventually became South Korea's largest conglomerate company (Jaebeol).

Some of the best-known Hyundai divisions are Hyundai Motor Company - the world's 4th largest automaker[1] and one of the The Asian Four (with Toyota, Honda and Nissan), Hyundai Heavy Industries - the world's largest shipbuilder, and Hynix - a top semiconductor manufacturer. Other companies currently or formerly controlled by members of Chung's extended family may be loosely referred to as a part of the Hyundai chaebol.

Hyundai Group underwent a massive restructuring following the 1997 East Asian financial crisis and the founder's death in 2001. Today many companies bearing the name Hyundai are legally unrelated to the Hyundai Group. Some of the larger former members of the conglomerate include Hyundai Group, Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, and Hyundai Development Group. Following the conception, Hyundai Group's business remains manufacturing of elevators, fung chu tin, container shipping services, and tourism.

2010 Hyundai ix35 Official Revealed

2010 Hyundai ix35 Official Revealed

2010 Hyundai ix35

The first undisguised images of the all-new Hyundai ix35 are already released. The new C-segment crossover showcases the new ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language of the Hyundai brand. Like we wrote last week, the ix35 will replace the popular Tucson – one of Europe’s best-selling SUVs – and will make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

According to Hyundai, the all-new ix35 design lines will be carried over to other new models from the brand, and the hexagonal grille will become a recognisable family attribute.

The new Hyundai ix35 combines enhanced aerodynamics, sleeker styling and refined powertrain in order to deliver better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions than rival SUVs.
